Album: Fiona Apple – Tidal

Posted by on Feb 10, 2011 in Inspiration, Music Inspiration

It’s been a few since I’ve been into an album, top to bottom.  I still dig, but I haven’t been finding many treasures lately.  I don’t know about you, but when I listen to music, I like to feel something. Nevertheless, I’ve been awakened by Fiona Apple’s 1st album, Tidal released in 1996…yup ’96.  And I’m discovering it 15 yrs later.  Man it’s good, and she was only 18.

Mike played a show last night that covered Apple’s Fast as You Can from the album When the Pawn….  I was intrigued, came home, then Mike laid on me the entire FA discography saying I needed to spend some quality time with Tidal and WTP.   And that’s what I did… I spent some quality time with Tidal… all day, over and over and over again. I didn’t even get to WTP.  Tidal is an emotionally charged album with brilliant instrumentation and production.. so raw and skillfully crafted.  Expressive, poetic, melodic.. Apple makes you feel somethin… it’s been awhile.

Here’s two of my fav’s…Sleep to Dream and Sullen Girl from the album. Give Sleep to Dream 28s.
